If you have been thinking about joining some survey sites and taking some surveys for extra money, you are probably trying to find out everything you can before you start.
Survey FAQ are a very easy and handy way to research online surveys that pay.
Luckily most good survey sites has their own FAQ section where you can learn about the survey taking process, but who has time to read every site’s FAQ’s? Besides, many of the questions are the same on all the sites, so you tend to reread a lot of material. This is where I can help.
I have been actively involved in surveys for a very long time, but when I started I also had a lot of questions like you. In time I got answers to all that questions, which I would like to share with you.
I have created this FAQ section to make life easier for you, because now you do not have to go and read every site’s Frequently Asked Questions; all the important ones are here. The only time you would ever have to read a survey sites FAQ section is when there is an issue specific to them that you are trying to resolve.
If there are any other questions you think should also be on this list, please let me know and I will gladly answer it and add it. I hope you find this informative, please leave your remarks or questions below.
Q: How does it work?
A: You join a survey panel/site by registering on their site. You will need an email address which you have to validate. After the registration and validation is complete you will begin to receive survey invitations via email and on each survey site. The invitation e-mail will contain a link to the survey and a short description of the subject matter. You receive the survey invitations based on the information you provided with your registration and the demographic questions you answered. You are now ready to earn.
Q: Do I have to pay to join a survey site?
A: It is free to join any survey site. If you are asked to pay membership fees or any other fees, they are a scam site and you should get out of there immediately.
Q: Who can complete online surveys?
A: Anyone who has a computer with access to the internet can participate in online surveys. No special software needs to be installed on member’s computers.
Q: Do I have to participate in every survey I am invited to?
A: No. You decide if you want to participate in a survey or not.
Q: What is the first warning sign of a scam survey site?
A: If you are asked for credit card information, money, or anything else in order to register or to earn money. Participating in surveys should be free.
Q: Do I get anything for participating in surveys?
A: Yes, you either get rewarded in cash or in points, which depend and are different with each survey site. After completing the survey, you will receive credit on your account.
Q: Can I really make money online with surveys?
A: Yes! You can make some money per month, but cannot get rich from surveys or use it as the only form of income or second income, but can be a nice additional income. Surveys are always required because companies are always looking for new users to try their products and services.
Q: Is it possible to start making money from today?
A: Yes and No. You can start to make money from today, but because every site has a minimum amount you have to reach before cashing out, it is unlikely that you can cash out in such a short period. It could however be possible with low minimum required sites, and with sites that has multiple income sources, such as offers, tasks, shopping etc.
Q: I read that I will get points, not money. What are these points?
A: Some survey sites reward their members with points. They then offer gift cards, prizes, products, and more. With most survey sites, you can also convert your points into money.
Q: How will I get paid?
A: Different sites use different means of payment. If it is cash you could get paid through PayPal, Skrill, Dwolla, by check, or bank transfer. Points can be redeemed via PayPal, e-certificates, coupons, vouchers, products, sweepstakes, gift cards from various top brands, and even more.
Q: Do the points that I accumulate ever expire?
A: Yes. Every site has its own policy about when points expire, and you should be aware of these when joining each site.
Q: What are the kinds of surveys I can expect?
A: Companies interested in market research are from a wide variety of different markets, so you can expect a wide variety of topics. Popular surveys are about products, new and old, and certain advertising campaigns, but other topics could also be about travel destinations, gaming, technology, social interactions, business, Governments, and still many more.
Q: How many surveys will I receive per month?
A: This will vary between sites and on your demographics. Most survey sites sent available surveys to all registered panel members, and only after you answer a few questions do they determine if you are the right fit for that specific survey. If you are the right demographics for them for the general surveys that they mostly sent out, you will most likely get a lot of surveys, if you are not, you will not receive many or any. If the site’s name is ‘formoms.net’, and you are a 22 year old dude; don’t join them! There are also sites that in general have more available surveys than other sites. So could be from 2 to 10 per month.
Q: How much will I get paid?
A: Again this will vary between sites, but will also vary because of the length of the survey. Other matters that influence the amount paid are; the complexity of the survey, the number of survey participants required, and how specialized the survey may be (requirement for certain experience or qualification). There are also sites that in general pay more than other sites.
Q: When do I get paid?
A: You get paid when your available balance reach the minimum payout amount. Each survey site has their own minimum payout amount, and date or time frame when payments are made. Detail about these requirements can be obtained from the reviews that I have done or by searching on each survey site. (It is much easier to check out my reviews 🙂 )
Q: How long does it take to fill out a survey?
A: It depends on the type and complexity of the survey, and of course on the survey site offering the survey. Surveys could be from 5 to 30 minutes each. There are also short surveys at various sites that are no more than 3 minutes long.
Q: How can I ensure that I get the most survey invitations possible?
A: Ensure that your registration information and profile is completely up to date.
Q: Why should I update my profile?
A: To ensure that you get the most surveys possible. If you keep your profile updated you increase your chances of receiving more survey invitations.
Q: Why do I receive a message, after I start the survey, saying that I cannot participate in the survey because I am not part of the survey’s target group?
A: Survey sites in general send out survey invitation to members that form part of the general target group they are trying to reach. They then use specific questions at the start of the survey to determine whether or not a participant belongs to the specific target group. If after a few questions, it is clear that you are not the from the correct target group, the survey will end and some sites will then either reward you a small amount or will try to find a different survey in the system that could be more suitable to you. While other sites will just end the survey.
Q: How often will I receive survey invitations?
A: It depends on each different survey site and on your demographics, so it is not easy to say. Some sites also offer daily quick surveys to keep you busy.
Q: Why are some surveys more difficult than others?
A: Companies that hire the survey sites to do the surveys have different requirements and needs, and some surveys will therefore be more complex than others. Longer surveys also tend to be more difficult than shorter surveys, which is why their payment is also more.
Q: Why do I sometimes receive a message saying that the survey is now closed because there are enough people registered for the survey, shortly after I begin the survey?
A: The survey sites send out survey invitations to many more people as they actually need, as they don’t know how many responses they will get. Participants often react so quickly that a survey closes before everyone who was invited has a chance to participate. So it is basically, a first come first served situation, if you react quickly to the invitation you have a much better chance to complete the survey.
Q: What does it mean when my survey is pending?
A: Survey results are checked and validated by the survey sites, and the companies which hired them. They use this time to check your answers to ensure that you answered the survey truthfully and that you did not rush through your answers. Some sites keep surveys pending for this purpose for a short period, such as a few days, while with others the process can take up to six weeks. Once the process is complete, your reward will be credited to your account.
Q: What if there is a technical error while I am busy with a survey?
A: Most good survey sites have the technical ability to determine whether the technical error was their mistake or not. If the error was on their side, you will be allowed to retake the survey.
Q: Are there other ways to earn money on survey sites?
A: Yes. Several sites have more than surveys with which you can earn rewards, such as shopping, cash offers, games, paid searches, paid for watching videos, clicking ads, and even more. Most sites also offer rewards for referring people to their site.
Q: What is PayPal and how do I get a PayPal account?
A: PayPal allows companies and private customers to safely and conveniently send and receive money at a low cost using an e-mail address. You can register at: www.paypal.com
Q: How difficult is it to delete my profile, or change my password, or change my email?
A: None of these are difficult, and can easily be done by logging into your account on the site you wish to make changes on. Some sites however require you to complete a contact form to change a email address.
